Review: Hourglass

 Author: Myra McEntire
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Release Date: 6/14/2011

Summary from Barnes & Noble.com:

For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back. So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.
Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?

My review:

Hourglass was absolutely stunning. There was a twist in the story almost every chapter. It's an over all fantastic novel.

Hourglass is about a girl named Emerson. She sees things that no one else can, and with one touch their gone in an instant. Her brother hires Michael to help get rid of the things she sees. But that is not what Micheal is here to do. One surprise after another slowly reveals whats going on and what Michael needs her help with. She starts to have feeling for him but he insist to follow her brothers rule and not do anything about what is growing between them.  Also what is Jack the guy who show up in her room she thinks is something she sees, until she touches him to make him go away and he is semi-solid.

Emerson lost her parents four years ago. Right before her parents died she started seeing things that weren't really there. She is a kick butt heroine. Who would do everything for someone not to go through what she did when she lost her parents. Michael works for an agency that helps people like Emerson. Michael is keeping secrets from Emerson. Kaleb is Michael's friend and someone else from Hourglass, he and Emerson understand each other. Jack is the strange thing in Emerson's bedroom, and she has no idea what he is and what he wants.

This book has mystery, romance, and a paranormal element. Which combined to make this a thrilling novel. This book is incredible in more than one way. It's incredibly written, and it has an incredible storyline. The emotions though out the book were so well written it felt like they were my emotions.

I love this book. Hourglass is an incredible book. I can't wait for Timepiece. I recommend you get a copy and read it, you will not regret it.
