Release Date: 10/9/12
Genre: YA Dystopian
Received from: Random Buzzers
Summary from B&N.com:
A magical city divided. A political rebellion ignited. A love that was meant to last forever.
Aria Rose, youngest scion of one of Mystic City's two ruling rival families, finds herself betrothed to Thomas Foster, the son of her parents' sworn enemies. The union of the two will end the generations-long political feud—and unite all those living in the Aeries, the privileged upper reaches of the city, against the banished mystics who dwell below in the Depths. But Aria doesn't remember falling in love with Thomas; in fact, she wakes one day with huge gaps in her memory. And she can't conceive why her parents would have agreed to unite with the Fosters in the first place. Only when Aria meets Hunter, a gorgeous rebel mystic from the Depths, does she start to have glimmers of recollection—and to understand that he holds the key to unlocking her past. The choices she makes can save or doom the city—including herself.

My Midway Chatter:

I'm enjoying this book so far. But I'm not liking it as much as I thought I would. There are lot of enjoyable elements to it. There mystery,a hint of paranormal (the mystics),a hint of dystopian, and a some forbidden romance.

Those things make for a great book, but the main character is bugging. I don't personally see logic in her decisions. She trust people way to easy, and I'm afraid this is going to get her in trouble later in the book. I just don't agree with judgement, and that is taking away from the book for me.

I love the cover! It's so different then the normal pretty girl in a pretty dress that is on YA covers a lot. I love how parts of the cover kind of represent different elements of the book.

  1. Who doesn't love a good book with forbidden romance!!! It seems that a lot of the YA books have weak heroines lately, and usually they have to be helped by a strong male character, which totally kills the independent vibe. The cover looks amazing, I think it captures the whole magical theme. Hopefully the rest of the book meets your standards. Thanks for sharing.

    1. I did enjoy it, but it was a bit predictable. I ended up like Aria more than I was when I wrote this.
